It Really Doesn't Take Much

I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel bad that my youngest doesn't have a lot to do while her siblings are busy with their activities. Madison has gymnastics twice a week and most of the time that is when I get our shopping done. Sometimes we do go to the park, library, or McDonald's to play. We have even gotten haircuts during the time we are waiting for Madison to get done ( I believe this is Melanie's favorite thing to do). We have recently discovered a new activity that keeps Melanie happy for awhile. Jumping on the grate beside the Fire Department. She had a great time doing this and what was even more fun for her is that she was with her daddy!

Deals I Missed

I shopped a little yesterday and found the following sales worth mentioning.

Aldi-block cheese $1.29 and milk $2.89 They still have their bag salad for $.99

BiLo-whole bean coffee buy one get one free.

I also did what I said I wasn't going to do. I went to CVS and stocked up. I was able to get:

5 bottles of body wash
2 tubes of toothpaste
5 bottles of shampoo

all for around $6.00 I only was going to do the body wash (we really are down to our last bit of soap), but I couldn't resist. I splurged and spent $1.96 on the 5 bottles of shampoo (it was the good kind...Herbal Essence). The toothpaste was free for me!! I now have my ECBs up to $8.00. I actually didn't have ANY for about 2 months. I didn't see anything worth spending money on and I just wasn't up to the effort.

I am really stocked up on the hygiene products right now except for soap, so I do believe I will take advantage of the body wash at CVS this week. I will be crossing my fingers that they have the items in stock and all will go well!!! Since we will be moving NEXT FRIDAY, I am trying to use up our food that we already have and only buy needed items to go with our stockpile. We probably will have some unusual meals, but it's food, right? I actually look forward to stocking the fridge and cabinets once we are settled in the house. I really don't look forward to the eating out I am sure we will be doing for a couple of days.

VALENTINE FUN

What did the stamp say to the envelope?

Stick with me and we'll go places

What travels the world but stays in one corner?

A stamp

What's a ram's favorite song?

I only have eyes for Ewe, Dear.

What does an envelope say when you lick it?

Nothing, it shuts up

Psalm 23-Modern Day Version

The clock is my dictator, I shall not rest.
It makes me lie down only when exhausted.
It leads me into deep depression.
It hounds my soul.
It leads me in circles of frenzy, for activities sake.
Even though I run frantically from task to task, I will never get it all done
For my ideal is with me.
Deadlines and my need for approval, they drive me.
They demand performance from me, beyond the limits of my schedule.
They anoint my head with migraines,
My in basket overflows.
Surely fatigue and time pressure shall follow me
All the days of my life
And I will dwell in the bonds of frustration, Forever.

I went to a training and the theme was Excellence in Ministry. It focused on being excellent. One of the comments was that you can give an excellent performance and still not perform with an excellent spirit. One thing that stood out to me was to pick just a few things to strive to do your best in. It seems that if you give of yourself on a few things, you tend to give it your all. If you try to do a lot, then you tend to give just a little. I know this is something I have known for a long time, but it was good to hear it again. I don't need to spread myself thin because what I end up giving is a little to a lot of things and those things aren't receiving my best. Give your best to a couple of things and it will receive the best. I know God will honor my efforts as long as I strive to put him first in everything and seek his will. God wants excellence and expects excellence, but I can't give it to him if I am trying to do it all myself.

A CONFESSSION

I have a confession to make. I was trying to AVOID the issue, but I happened to have got called on the carpet last night by my dear sweet mother. She approached me and said she was upset with me. I immediately started going through my mind the happenings of the past few days. My life of 38 years (gasp...am I REALLY 38 now?) flashed before my eyes in just a couple of seconds. In those quick seconds, I could not think of a single thing I could have done to upset my dear sweet mother. OH, but then she mentioned, THE BLOG. My dear sweet mother reads my blog and she really enjoys reading it. She was disappointed though when she read about my birthday celebration and I didn't mention her. So, with much appreciation and love for my dear sweet mother I would like to give her credit for my wonderful celebration that I had.

My mama cooked the BEST fried liver and onions I ever tasted for my party. I had been wanting fried liver for months and months and months (probably over a year). The liver was accompanied by stir fry squash, carrots, cauliflower, green beans, rice and gravy, and biscuits. NO, I DID NOT HAVE A BIRTHDAY CAKE!!! She, along with my kiddies, also decorated the living room with balloons and streamers. I had a ball enjoying my fried liver and onions. My confession....I LOVE LIVER! It's probably one of the top things I love to eat. So there, I have confessed and you all know that I love love love love liver! I'm sorry, so sorry. I just didn't like to be in the minority on this little issue. This is a big issue....who in the world has LIVER for their birthday (and really be excited about it too)?? :-) I would eat it in a boat. I would eat it with a goat. I would eat it in the rain. And in the dark. And on a train. And in a car. And in a tree. It is so good, so good, you see! I will eat it in a box. and I will eat it with a fox. And I will eat it in a house. And I will eat it with a mouse. And I will eat it here and there. SAY! I will eat it ANYWHERE!

My Birthday

I had a good birthday yesterday. I received much needed pajama pants, 2 books, and my van getting cleaned (one nice day in the future). I also got some freebies and coupons through email (that I will never use). I did want to mention 1 promotion that is well worth the effort. Go here and sign up for a FREE Firehouse sub on your birthday. They send you a card in the MAIL on your special day to use whenever you would like. A few months back Phil and I went to lunch for his birthday and paid just a few dollars for a great meal ( of course the best part was it being a date for us). Cold Stone Creamery sends a coupon through email for free ice cream (click here), so if your town has both you could really stuff yourself! I know of several other offers, but to me these two are the best if you are looking for a nice birthday treat out. :-)

Happy 10th Birthday Michael

My baby is in the 2 digits as of today! I am so proud of him. He is a great son and he has come very far in his 10 years. I just wonder about myself though. I was so slack that I did not have candles for his cake. I found a 6 and a 3, so I told him to add that together then I wrapped a piece of paper to make 10. Ok, maybe I have lost it, but after this week, I really don't care. We all had a big laugh over it and he did not seem to mind at all. He started celebrating last weekend with the Monster Truck Jam. This weekend we went to ChuckECheese's and Embassy Suites. That trip wasn't really for his birthday, we just needed a getaway. He had a friend to spend the night last night and then today we gave him his gifts. It was probably the worst planning I have EVER done in my life for his birthday. There were several boys that didn't get an invitation to the Monster Truck Jam because of me and I do feel bad because he was wanting a few more friends to go. :-( Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL, I LOVE YOU!!!
